03

Licence & Permitted Use

Subject to these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, PLDB grants users a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to access the platform for lawful professional, educational, academic, research or internal business purposes.

You may review, cite, download or otherwise use material made available through the platform to the extent permitted by the relevant PLDB feature, your subscription and applicable law.

No ownership rights in the PLDB platform, databases, software, search architecture, compiled datasets, interfaces or proprietary technology are transferred to users.

04

Prohibited Conduct

Access to PLDB must not be used to interfere with the platform, obtain unauthorized access or reproduce PLDB's proprietary databases or technology.

You must not:

  • Scrape, crawl, spider, mirror or systematically extract PLDB data without written authorization.
  • Use bots, scripts or automated tools to bypass ordinary usage limits or access controls.
  • Bulk-download judgments, statutes, metadata, headnotes, drafts or other database content for reconstruction of a competing database.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, probe or attempt to discover proprietary source code, prompts, system instructions, search architecture, databases or internal infrastructure.
  • Attempt prompt injection, model extraction, credential theft, unauthorized command execution or exploitation of any PLDB service.
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication systems, firewalls, subscription restrictions or technological safeguards.
  • Use PLDB infrastructure to distribute malware, spam, abusive content or unlawful material.
  • Use another person's account without authorization.
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute access unless expressly authorized in writing.

PLDB may automatically restrict or suspend activity that appears abusive, automated, malicious or inconsistent with normal legitimate research use.

05

Intellectual Property & Database Rights

The PLDB website, software, interface, database compilation, proprietary search systems, classification structures, original summaries, headnotes, annotations, legal drafts created by PLDB, branding and other proprietary material are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Judicial decisions, legislation and other public legal materials may remain public records or subject to rights held by their respective sources. Their inclusion within PLDB does not mean that PLDB claims ownership over underlying public-domain material.

Copyright or other rights in third-party publications, journal material, logos, documents or datasets remain with their respective owners.

06

Legal Research Disclaimer

Pak Legal Database is a legal research and information platform. Nothing provided through PLDB constitutes legal advice, representation, a legal opinion or a substitute for independent professional judgment.

Although PLDB works to maintain accurate and current legal material, court records, legislation, citations, metadata, summaries and other information may occasionally contain omissions, delays, typographical errors, incomplete records or differences from official publications.

Users remain responsible for checking relevant authorities, procedural rules, limitation periods, amendments, subsequent treatment and official court or government sources before relying upon material in professional proceedings.

07

Obsidian, AI Research & Citation Bot

PLDB provides artificial-intelligence-assisted research services, including Obsidian and AI functionality available through the website or connected services such as WhatsApp.

AI-generated responses may analyse judgments, legislation, uploaded material, retrieved records and other information. While PLDB employs citation verification and retrieval systems designed to improve reliability, artificial intelligence can still misunderstand material, omit relevant authority or produce inaccurate conclusions.

  • AI output must be independently reviewed before professional reliance.
  • A citation appearing in an AI response does not remove the user's obligation to inspect the underlying judgment.
  • Legal outcomes depend on facts, procedural history, jurisdiction and subsequent legal developments.
  • AI-generated drafts and analyses should be reviewed and adapted by a qualified professional before filing or use.

Citation Bot and similar tools are retrieval aids. Availability of a judgment through a citation search does not itself establish that the authority remains good law or applies to a particular matter.

08

Third-Party Data, Compliance & Intelligence Services

Certain PLDB services aggregate, organize, search or display information originating from courts, government authorities, regulators, public records, external databases, news providers or other third-party sources.

Sanctions & Watchlists

Sanctions, AML, KYC and watchlist screening tools are provided as research and due-diligence aids. A possible name match does not establish identity, wrongdoing, sanctions status or legal liability. Users must perform appropriate verification before taking action.

SECP Company Check

Company information may originate from publicly accessible or third-party corporate records. Users should verify critical corporate information directly with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan or other official sources where formal reliance is required.

Tenders

Tender notices are provided for informational convenience. Deadlines, eligibility requirements, amendments and procurement conditions must be confirmed with the issuing authority before submission or reliance.

Orbit

Orbit may display news, geospatial, aviation, maritime, weather, conflict, market, cybersecurity and other intelligence derived from multiple sources. Such information may be delayed, incomplete, estimated or subsequently revised and must not be treated as guaranteed real-time intelligence.

09

User Uploads, Documents & Instructions

Some PLDB services may allow users to upload documents, submit legal questions, enter case information or provide other material for analysis.

You represent that you have the right and lawful authority to submit such material. You remain responsible for professional confidentiality, privilege, data-protection obligations and any restrictions applicable to documents or information you upload.

You should avoid uploading information that you are not lawfully permitted to disclose.

10

Privacy, Data Protection & Security

PLDB applies administrative and technical controls intended to protect user information and platform infrastructure. Communications with the website are protected using encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections where supported.

Security controls may include firewall rules, automated traffic analysis, access restrictions, rate limiting, malicious-request detection and other measures intended to prevent unauthorized or abusive access.

PLDB may process technical information such as IP addresses, authentication events, browser information, timestamps and security logs where reasonably necessary to operate, secure and protect the service.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords, devices and authentication credentials.

11

Service Availability, Updates & External Services

PLDB may add, modify, replace, improve, temporarily disable or discontinue individual features as the platform develops.

Availability may be affected by maintenance, hosting providers, internet connectivity, external APIs, AI providers, public-data sources, court websites, telecommunications services, WhatsApp services or other systems outside PLDB's direct control.

PLDB does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation and may perform maintenance or emergency security work without prior notice where reasonably necessary.

12

Suspension & Termination

PLDB may restrict, suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect the platform, enforce these Terms, investigate suspected misuse or comply with legal requirements.

Grounds may include:

  • Credential sharing or unauthorized account use.
  • Non-payment or fraudulent payment activity.
  • Excessive automated access or systematic data extraction.
  • Attempts to bypass security, rate limits or subscription restrictions.
  • Abusive, unlawful or harmful use of PLDB services.
  • Conduct posing a security or operational risk to PLDB or other users.

Serious security abuse may result in immediate termination without prior notice.

13

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

PLDB is provided on an "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PLDB makes no guarantee that every record, citation, search result, AI response, translation, corporate record, tender, sanctions entry or other item will be complete, current or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PLDB shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or purely economic losses arising from use of, inability to use or reliance upon the platform.

PLDB is not responsible for legal decisions, filings, deadlines, transactions, compliance decisions, investment decisions or other professional actions taken solely in reliance upon information obtained through the platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

14

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, users agree to indemnify and hold PLDB harmless from claims, losses or expenses arising from unlawful use of the service, violation of these Terms, infringement of third-party rights or material uploaded or distributed through the user's account.

15

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Subject to any mandatory law or agreed dispute-resolution mechanism, disputes arising from these Terms or use of Pak Legal Database shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Pakistan.

16

Changes, Severability & General Terms

Changes to These Terms

PLDB may update these Terms as its services, technology or legal obligations evolve. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use following an effective update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

No Waiver

A failure by PLDB to enforce any provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce that provision later.

Assignment

Users may not transfer their rights or obligations under these Terms without PLDB's written consent. PLDB may transfer its rights or obligations as part of a restructuring, acquisition, corporate reorganization or transfer of the relevant business.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with applicable privacy, subscription and service-specific policies published by PLDB, form the agreement governing use of the platform unless a separate written agreement applies.
