Privacy Policy

The information collected by PLDB depends on the services you use and how you interact with the platform.

When you register or purchase access, we may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, organization, professional details, account credentials and subscription information.

Payment and transaction information may be processed when you purchase a subscription or other service. Where payments are handled by an external payment provider, sensitive payment credentials may be processed directly by that provider rather than stored by PLDB.

Our systems may automatically receive technical information including IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, timestamps, authentication activity, referring pages and security logs.

Depending on the feature used, PLDB may process searches, citations, bookmarks, saved items, Case Diary entries, AI conversations, uploaded documents, support messages and other information submitted through the platform.

Personal and technical information may be processed where reasonably necessary to operate Pak Legal Database and provide services requested by users.

We may use information to:

• Create and administer user accounts.
• Provide legal research, AI, Citation Bot, Case Diary and other PLDB services.
• Process subscriptions and maintain billing records.
• Respond to support and account enquiries.
• Maintain bookmarks, saved searches, preferences and other account features.
• Detect fraud, unauthorized access, scraping, abuse and security threats.
• Monitor reliability and improve platform performance.
• Comply with lawful obligations, legal process and regulatory requirements.

PLDB does not sell personal information or research activity to advertisers.

When you use Obsidian or another AI-assisted feature, PLDB may process your question, research instructions, retrieved legal materials, conversation context and any documents or text you intentionally provide.

This processing is necessary to retrieve relevant material, conduct the requested analysis, maintain conversation context where enabled and return the requested response.

Some AI functionality may depend on external infrastructure or model providers. Where this occurs, information necessary to complete the request may be transmitted to the relevant provider solely for processing the requested function, subject to the applicable technical and contractual arrangements.

Users should exercise professional judgment before submitting privileged, confidential or highly sensitive client information to any online service and remain responsible for their own confidentiality and professional obligations.

When PLDB services are accessed through WhatsApp, messages and telephone identifiers are also processed through WhatsApp/Meta infrastructure under their respective privacy terms before being received by PLDB.

Features such as the Digital Case Diary may contain information entered by users concerning cases, hearings, schedules, notes, saved authorities, documents or professional matters.

Such information is processed to provide the feature to the account holder and is not sold for advertising purposes.

Users remain responsible for ensuring they have lawful authority to upload, store or submit documents and information through PLDB and for complying with any professional-confidentiality, privilege or client-data obligations applicable to them.

PLDB may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain login sessions, remember user preferences, protect accounts, prevent abuse and understand how the website performs.

Cookies may include essential cookies required for authentication and security, preference cookies and limited analytics or performance technologies.

Browser settings may allow users to block or delete cookies. However, disabling essential cookies may prevent login, account access or other parts of the service from functioning correctly.

PLDB may use trusted third-party providers where necessary to operate the platform. These may include hosting providers, content-delivery and security services, payment processors, communications providers, email services, analytics services and AI or API infrastructure.

Such providers may process limited information necessary to perform their function. PLDB does not authorize service providers to use personal information for unrelated advertising purposes merely because they provide infrastructure to us.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law, valid court order, governmental request or where reasonably necessary to protect PLDB, its users or others from fraud, abuse, security threats or unlawful activity.

PLDB uses technical and administrative safeguards intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure of information.

Security measures may include encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections, firewall protection, traffic filtering, access controls, authentication measures, security logging, rate limiting and automated detection of suspicious requests.

Access to administrative systems and backend infrastructure is restricted to authorized access pathways.

No internet-connected platform can guarantee absolute security. Users should use strong passwords, protect their devices and promptly notify PLDB if unauthorized account access is suspected.

PLDB retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing services, maintaining accounts, preventing abuse, resolving disputes and meeting legal or accounting obligations.

Different categories of information may have different retention periods. Security logs, transaction records and legal records may be retained for longer periods where reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, accounting or legal compliance.

Where an account or information is deleted, residual copies may temporarily remain in backups, archives or security systems until those records are overwritten or expire through normal retention processes.

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances of the request, users may request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information associated with their account.

Users may also contact PLDB regarding inaccurate account information, privacy concerns or requests relating to information maintained by the platform.

PLDB may require reasonable identity verification before processing privacy requests and may retain information where required or permitted by law, including records necessary for security, legal claims, fraud prevention or accounting.

Where laws such as the GDPR apply to a particular user or processing activity, PLDB will address applicable data-protection rights in accordance with those legal requirements.

PLDB contains court judgments, legislation, regulatory material and other legal records that may already be publicly available through courts, government bodies, published reports or public legal sources.

The presence of personal information in a judicial decision or other public record does not necessarily mean that the information was collected directly from the person concerned.

PLDB recognizes that certain judgments may contain highly sensitive personal information, including matters involving minors, sexual offences, family proceedings, harassment or other exceptional circumstances.

Requests concerning redaction, removal, anonymization or restricted indexing of privacy-sensitive material may be submitted to PLDB for review. Requests are considered with regard to applicable law, the public nature of court records, journalistic and legal-research interests, court directions and legitimate privacy concerns.

Some service providers used by PLDB may operate infrastructure outside Pakistan. As a result, limited information may be processed or transmitted internationally when required to deliver a particular service.

Where applicable, PLDB seeks to use service providers and safeguards appropriate to the type of information being processed and the service being provided.

Pak Legal Database is primarily intended for legal professionals, researchers, organizations, university students and other professional users. PLDB does not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from young children for independent use of the platform.

If information is believed to have been submitted by a child in circumstances requiring parental or guardian consent under applicable law, PLDB may be contacted so the matter can be reviewed.

PLDB may revise this Privacy Policy as the platform, technology, services or applicable legal requirements change.

The current version will be published on this page together with the latest revision date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or other appropriate channels.

Privacy enquiries, data requests and requests concerning privacy-sensitive judgments may be submitted through Pak Legal Database's official contact channels.
